I passed!

Chris isn't the only one who gets to take tests these days! We had our 28 week appointment today and gestational diabetes test and I passed! I always get a little nervous before tests, so I was relieved to hear I passed with flying colors. I had to drink a liquid that I explained to Chris as REALLY flat, non-carbonated, REALLY sugary 7-Up. YUMMY! :) It actually wasn't that bad...I didn't even gag (which I sometimes do at gross things)! An hour after you drink this lovely concoction, they want your blood sugar to be below 140 and mine was 111, so we are good to go!

The doc said everything is looking really great, and me and baby are very healthy so we don't need to go back for another 4 weeks. Usually at 28 weeks, they have you start coming every 2 weeks, but because we are doing so well we can wait 4. After that (at 32 wks), we have to go every 2 wks for a couple times and then its down to every 1 week from weeks 36-40. We made the rest of our appointments today, so that was a bit strange. The light at the end of the tunnel is starting to shine!

I am measuring about a week further along than I am (which isn't a big deal), so we will see how I look at our next appointment. Maybe I won't have to go the full 40 weeks?! OR...maybe we will have a large baby. :) Chris was a 9 pounder you know!!!

Love you all and thanks so much for your prayers and support...let's keep this girl cookin'!

3rd Trimester!

Today marks a major milestone as I am now 28 weeks pregnant and officially in my 3rd trimester! Time flies when you're having fun! Tomorrow I have my 28 week check-up which includes a gestational diabetes test...so I get to wake up and drink a really sugary concoction, wait an hour, and get tested. I'll let you know how it goes!

Here is a recent pic of my growing belly...I honestly feel like I grew a ton this past week, almost literally as if I could see myself expanding. :) Baby girl is growing!

We have also started to make some headway on our nursery thanks to Grandma Lenore, Aunt Lori, and my mom (Holly) who pitched in to get us our crib bedding and to my mother-in-law (Kathy) who is letting us use a dresser of hers as a changing table. It is the same dresser she used as a changing table for Chris and his brother and sister! Chris painted it and we put on new knobs and it is good to go! We aren't going to paint the room because we are renting our house, but I am going to put some things on the wall and want to get some window treatments, so we have a bit of work to do still...stay tuned!

Crib with bedding!

Changing table! The awesome new knobs we put on the dresser
Storage organizer...thanks to my parents!
Koda is ready for baby too!

We are so excited to meet our girl, but want her to keep cooking! We find ourselves in the nursery everyday just looking around and sitting in the glider...

Chad just sent some more pics and they are too cute to not share!
All bundled up in pink...

Chad with his boys...Rees & Cole

Selah has some hair!
Proud big brother, Rees

Introducing our niece...Selah Belle

Our first niece was born yesterday and she is SO BEAUTIFUL!

Selah Belle Johnson
Born 3.19.09 @ 3:39pm
7.04 oz ~ 20 inches
Healthy and beautiful and with blonde hair!!

Michelle and Selah are both doing great. Michelle only had to push for 2 minutes, so she was a champ! Selah is nursing great, so all seems to be going well! We are so excited that we now have 2 nephews and 1 niece from Chad and Michelle. SO FUN! Now, if we could just get them to move back to Washington from Fresno, we would be set! :)

Here are a couple more pics that Chad sent right after she was born...

27 weeks and a NIECE maybe today!

Well time just keeps ticking by as we are now at 27 weeks. Next week we will officially be in our 3rd trimester! CRAZY! We had a very fun but busy weekend this past weekend as we went to the West Side. It was way too short of a trip as always, but we got to see family and friends, so it is all worth the 7 HOUR DRIVE HOME it took us (it usually takes 3.5-4)...the pass was horrible and just when we were 25 miles from home, we had to take a detour for a road closed that took us another hour. Fun times! We got to see our friends Sarah and Andy and sweet baby Justus. He looked so great for all he has been through. Chris and I can't get enough of his "I'm hungry" cry/whine and find ourselves mimicking him all the time. I will post pics from our time with them soon (I don't have them with me now). I also went to a baby shower for my friend, Lise, so that was fun to see lots of friends. It's baby season! Our last big task of the weekend was to register at Babies R' Us. I have to give Sarah and Andy a huge THANK YOU for coming with us to help in this endeavor...it is so overwhelming to figure out all that baby needs and pick from what seems like millions of brands. They were super troopers (or should I say "Power Rangers" ;)...Andy's an Army Ranger) and helped us sort through it all. Chris had the gun to scan things and had way too much fun with that. :)

Baby Update...This week, our baby girl weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers.

Here are 10 thoughts that I have at this moment of being 27 weeks pregnant:
1. Is that indigestion or an alien inside of me? Baby is kicking harder than ever before and we actually SAW her kicking for the first time on Tuesday, 3/17/09. WOW!
2. We have less than 13 weeks left! Time is NOT slowing down! So much to do!
3. When am I going to feel "ready" to be a mom?! SO much to learn!
4. There's no hiding my belly anymore (I'll post a pic later this week).
5. What happened to my back? I'm calling a massage therapist today...
6. Will I ever feel full again? I pretty much feel hungry all the time...
7. I have the best family and friends EVER! Your love and support is such a comfort and help to us...
8. I think our baby stole my brain, mine seems to be gone. :)
9. Work? Oh, that's what I'm supposed to be doing right now. FOCUS! ;)
10. Chris is going to be such a great dad...

Stay tuned because Michelle (my sister-in-law) is in labor RIGHT NOW so our first niece will hopefully be here today! YEAH!!!

26 Weeks - Down to Double Digits!

I figured it was time for a little update, although I don't have too much to update you on! I am now 26 weeks and down to only double digits of days left...97 days to go as of today! I am still feeling pretty great overall. I am starting to get more tired again and have had some slight issues with my back and sciatic nerve that shoots pain down my low back and leg, but usually only after I do something active, especially vacuum. So...Chris has now claimed vacuum duty, which I know he loves. ;)

Baby girl is doing great, she is growing and kicking me harder each day. It hasn't kept me up at night yet, but I know that could be coming! It is pretty much the coolest feeling in the world to feel her inside me...very strange, but amazing! Right now, she is about 14 inches in length and 1 2/3 lbs. Her hearing is developing and she may now be able to hear our voices, so we talk to her a lot. :) She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air.

Chris has spring break next week, so we are heading to Puyallup/Issaquah for the weekend. We are going to try to register at Babies R Us while we are there to start to figure out all that we need for this little girl (wish us luck)!

I also want to wish my oldest nephew, Rees, a very HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY today! The only live birth I've ever seen was his, it was the most amazing thing...I can't believe that was 4 years ago! He is such a smart, sweet boy and growing up so fast. Here are some cute pics of him...
